Polished the crank (not a euphemism)!

First, the before picture.

Now, after two hours of work with 1000 grit sandpaper, it seems much better. However, if you look closely, you’ll see a small dotted line towards the top of that section of the crankshaft. You can still feel a slight difference running your finger over that section, So I think I’ll go find some 600 grit sandpaper and see if that will remove the rest of the pitting.
